The second SA Taxi Win A Taxi draw was held at the SA Taxi Direct Midrand branch on 22 October and saw two Taxipreneurs grow their fleet by winning a Quality Renewed Toyota Quantum each.

The day started out with some showers and as draw time drew closer; the sun made its way out from behind the clouds – an indicator of how the draw was going to be progressively exciting. Mr Tshifhiwa Ernest Sathuma, who was represented by his wife, was the first to win a taxi after she drew the first egg and after a few tries of entering the pin, the door flew open.

Speaking after his first unsuccessful draw, Mr Muntu Johnson Zulu thanked SA Taxi for the support that was extended to Taxipreneurs during hard lockdown and the opportunity to win a taxi. He also encouraged Taxipreneurs to involve their drivers in the business.

“We must tell our drivers how much the installments are so they can understand that we need to work together to keep the business moving,” he said.

Seeing as none of the four finalists present were not drawing the lucky code, we switched things up. After getting approval from our independent auditor, the finalists’ names were entered into the eggs and our Head of Collections, Andre Pieterse drew the lucky winner’s name – Mr Zulu.

A very emotional Mr Zulu sang “Wena Nkosi Uyazi” (Only You know, God) before accepting his Quality Renewed Taxi. “God knows I started this business with nothing and I am happy to be growing it with this taxi” he exclaimed.

The other finalists didn’t walk away empty handed as all ten were awarded R10 000 each.

The competition continues with the next draw on 26 November 2021.
